30 Years of Springsteen

Saw The Boss last night. Like all of the Springsteen concerts I have seen since my first while I was in college, it was amazing. Okay, maybe the Nebraska acoustic one wasn't my favorite. But all the others have been "earth-shaking, love-making, viagra-taking" -- this was Bruce's stream of exultation during the encore, and I wish I could remember each phrase, there were at least four more.

I had offered to get a ticket for my teen, who was uninterested. Unlike the Stones concert a year or so ago, almost none of the Bruce audience had brought their kids. Almost anyone in the Coliseum could have been a TBD member (and should be :)).

TBD: The Boss Decades. If you have a chance to see him this tour, it's worth every effort, and the many pennies.

Another decade, another wonderful concert - now with cellphone camera

My wife and I saw Bruce and the E Street band in Oakland last week. The energy exploding off that stage was so raw and potent I decided to wait a few days before talking about it. I wanted to make sure I really had seen God, before telling the world about it. Good thing I did, because (apologies in advance, Jersey brethren) Bruce is not God. But he is the best damn revival minister I have ever been lifted up by. If you lament these times--Bush, Iraq, the attendant twisting of truth into lies and lies into apparent truth, then this man and his band from Asbury Park, NJ, will fill you full of spirit to take your country back and slay every Bush-era dragon you can lay your sword into. Because nobody takes a sad, melancholy, even angry message and delivers it in a more upbeat, jump-and-shout, happy kind of way. And, Lord, can the Boss still shake the house.

If you go to one of these shows, be sure to pick up and listen often to the band's new CD titled "Magic." The show includes most of the songs on the record, almost all of which are good, and does not include a ton of old favorites. Here are the remaining dates on the tour. Our tickets were expensive--$100 each, more than we have ever paid for a rock and roll show. But do it if you can. Worth it!

I just saw Sir Elton John in Vegas last week. He was Awesome. Amazing after 30-40 yrs. all these "old singers" are still as popular as ever.
