I don't hate the man, but I do think he is dangerous.
Jimmy Carter was a very ineffectual president, but he wasn't dangerous.

I think that he has been mislead by people more powerful than he is. Actually, looking back at previous presidents--didn't they all have faults, and didn't we blame them for some things that only God has the answers to the why and how? Each man has only proven that they are human, just like us. Posted: Oct 29, 07 4:50pm![]() Is there anyone on TeeBeeDee that doesnt hate George Bush? It's just that... well frankly, I am scared of him and his beliefs! I fret over the continual erosion of civil liberties, in our own best interest. And the worst thing is I'm afraid that he'll try and have himself crowned king before his tenure is up! I don't blame him for everything, but I do think he can take credit for some failings. I really thought at the beginning that he would surround his office with very capable and competent staffers. That worked out pretty well didn't it? Well, for me I lost respect for him on three scores; Positioning himself as "protect America guy" but then failing to... 1) Engage alternative energy in a manner consistent with the threat to us economically, environmentally and strategically. 2) Secure our borders, or at least provide the resources to "do the job the Government wont do". Not knowing who is coming in and then suggesting that our effort in Iraq is an effort to "protect us" seems at best inconsistent. 3) Lack of competence,...not having skills yourself is one thing. It can be offset if you possess the capability to find it in others and distinguish who has it and who doesn't. Getting rid of Powell, keeping Rumsfeld for as long as he did, elevating Condi and given Tenet the medal of Freedom... That is a poor record of holding subordinates to account. Lastly, his mediocre public speaking skills impact his ability to lead. Advocating an unpopular point of view can be mitigated if you do it well, consistently and with your audience in mind. Not exactly fireside chat material. I voted for him twice, which is a sad commentary on the alternatives. Posted: Oct 29, 07 6:31pm![]() Is there anyone on TeeBeeDee that doesnt hate George Bush? His problem is that he was taught to listen to the same tired voices his father listened to. The man is of limited intelligence and having grown up rich seems his only asset. I count the days until his departure. He will go down in history with Warren G Harding as the most inept person to ever have the title of President. Unfortunately, the country during his reign has become the laughingstock of allies and the devil incarnate to those people who needed little excuse to hate us. It looks more and more like Hillary in '08. She is the only candidate with the gravitas to be seen as a leader despite her flaws. The other choices are slim and none. No Republican has the ability to draw a majority because of either personal issues like Giuliani or policy issues like Romney and McCain. As for Humble Fred - keep him on Law and Order and out of law and order! The Democrats other than Hillary and Obama might as well be Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dumber. Even their names escape me. I truly admire Obama and hope that he is chosen for Vice President to give him some seasoning in the White House for a run in 8 years. There is something about him that says he would not wilt under pressure like the last Democratic candidate or freeze under pressure like the present president. His wife is a lovely retired teacher, and his daughter has written a book bringing attention to AIDS. I really would like to like him.... In his first months as president, California - my state - was having an energy crisis. We didn't know it then, but it came out later it was because Enron was tweaking the books. Bush's response when our governor applied for emergency help was that it was California's problem. He implied it was because of our stupid environemtntal restrictions we were having this problem. I actually believe he even said, "Well, that's their problem isn't it?" *snicker, snicker* everybody knew we were all "fruits and nuts", right? His body language and his attitude were dismissive - lips curled, eyes narrowed - in the extreme. And I realized from that moment on, that though I had prayed this president I did not vote for would really be the president of all the people, and that I could back him, but he kept a ledger, and California was never to be on the guest list, because we did not fall in his column. Apparent to me, he keeps score and there's payback. Not the inspiring go-to guy you really do want to rely on. George Washington he ain't. Perhaps other persons in states other than mine have experiences they would like to share. Posted: Oct 29, 07 7:23pm![]() Is there anyone on TeeBeeDee that doesnt hate George Bush? What we get to see of his and anyone's presidency is what the media chooses to show us. Ok, so I have a basic mistrust of the news media. I have my reasons. But hate the President of the United States? No. He has had to deal with issues that no one in recent times has had to give much thought to. Everyone may not like the things that are going on, yet we do not live in a war-torn nation that is facing life and death in the streets every day. I am concerned that all of that will change when he is out of office, replaced by someone light in experience that war lords will want to test. |
