Going to the Cabin . . . and other summer memories

We're heading to the cabin for a week in just a couple hours. This is our 3rd year of doing this and the boys have already become attached to the idea of being at a lake, playing board games, playing cards, taking walks, making s'mores, and just hanging out. For a whole week they don't ask to watch T.V., we never hear "I'm bored", and they typically get along with one another. This is EXACTLY what I remember from my childhood.

This isn't the only memory of mine that I find myself trying to recreate for my children. All of my happy memories tend to get recreated for each holiday, for summer vacation, for rainy day activities. My childhood wasn't perfect, but I have very deep memories of feeling happy and loved . . . more than the memory of the event itself (whichever one I'm recreating at the time), THAT is what I want my children to remember.

What memories do you have that you have passed along, or would like to pass along to your children? What did you add to your life to give them fun childhood memories?

So then . . . bye for now, my friends. (Fromz, I'll be taking MrWrite with me, so enjoy the break, but be ready to spar when we get back . . . I'm sure he'll have a lot to say.) I miss you guys already!!!
