family vacation with kid program

I am looking for a great place in the sun for a week long vacation with my family (husband and 5 year old son). i don't want to bring a babysitter because that only means more responsibility. So i need a good kid program/camp for a few hours each day. we tried the Ritz in St. Thomas. However, this fake friendliness drives me crazy. Every five seconds someone from the staff addresses me with: how are you enjoying your stay.

any suggestions?

also, ideally it should be easy to get to by plane from Boston.

thanks,

Hi Mausekoenig,

An old friend of mine swears by the beaches of North Carolina. It's a great place to relax and get away with the kids. The Outer Banks are ninety miles of flawless landscape and effortless beauty. It's a bit cold right now, but it'll start warming up in a few months!

There are many choices. You don't say whether you want the Caribbean or the US or what price range.

Club Med Dominican Republic is great and has all-day children's programs, activities and a wonderful beach. Rooms are modest.

The Four Seasons Nevis is upscale, laid-back, and has a good beach plus a complimentary program for kids during the day. In the U.S., try Cheeca Lodge, Florida Keys, or Kiawah Island, where you can rent a house or book rooms at the upmarket Sanctuary. Kiawah has nature oriented family activities as well as a kids' program.

There are many other options.

Club Med Dominica...

Candyce, thanks so much for your reply. this is very helpful. i am definitely looking for an upscale place. It doesn't matter if it is US or Carribean. What i care about is that it is not too difficult to get to (i hate flying and even more changing planes). The Four Season's sounds great. but now i am going to look closer into Kiawah. Since my son is totally into nature and animals this sounds great.
