We baby boomers are getting ready for the next move, but where? There are so many places to choose that it is not as easy as it seems. What are the factors that would go into your choice of communities, and what are some of your first choices?

I am not even close to retirement but I have always wanted to settle down in a coastal Alaskan town. I have been to the interior parts but I never made it to the coast. I look at pictures all the time on the internet and have a box full of info the chamber of commerce sent me. I am someone guided more by my dreams than practical considerations. One day I just might follow this dream.

GODDESS DEBBIE,

What are some of the attractions to retire to a coastal Alasken town?

The landscape,people, remoteness,cold?

I too have often wanted to visit Alaska but not actually live there.

If I ever fully retire, I would go back to the beach in Copacabana, Rio, Brasil. You can almost live on the beach with the weather there ... except for the few rainy days.

I have read about the Aleutian Islands, Dutch Harbor, and Unalaska. I see nothing but beauty. I love the wildlife on land and sea. I could cancel my gym membership with all the outdoor sports to keep me busy. I picture a simple and free lifestyle. I can see me now wearing jeans, sunscreen and a ponytail. I could be wrong but it looks to me like it might still have a small town charm.
