Taken from the MOvember website:

" Movember (the month formally known as November) is a moustache growing charity event held during November each year.

At the start of Movember guys register with a clean shaven face. The Movember participants known as Mo Bros then have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their moustache and along the way raise as much money and awareness about male health issues, in particular prostate cancer as possible. Movember culminates at the end of the month at the gala parties. These glamorous and groomed events will see Tom Selleck and Borat look-a-likes battle it out for their chance to take home the prestigious Man of Movember title. "

Beat that!

Beat that!

Great idea and prostate cancer is a cause TBDers care about. But I couldn't find on the Movember site which charities it goes to, or what the administrative overhead expenses are -- which is a form of due diligence on charitable giving that I think is important. Do you know?

Great point Robin, I think it's different for each Country that participates. I found this on the US version of their site.

"In the U.S.A. Movember is very proud to be teaming with the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

All donations are made directly to the Prostate Cancer Foundation which will use the funds for high-impact research to find better treatments and a cure for prostate cancer. The Prostate Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law."

Looks legit to me, but I haven't done any realy diligence aside from reading what they have on their site.

The cause sounds good but why would I want to hide any part of my beautiful face? Can't a body simply donate without desecrating a great piece of art?

I suppose so Milt... my problem is I grew a beard back in October. I've been trying to bring myself to shaving and starting over, but it's been a tough decision ;-)

Btw, Tom Selleck is on the leaderboard at their site for best moustache of all time!

I did some follow up research (the Prostate Cancer Foundation was founded by Michael Milken who is controversial so I thought it worth checking)...and it's a terrific foundation, I know one of the board members and he is of the highest ethical standards, and their financial statements show a high percentage spent on program not administration.

I'm only commenting to bring this back out to the board...........top 5 so that people will notice it and learn about it. I had never heard about Movember before this.
