How will we solve the environment puzzle / crisis?

The globe is heating up, Arctic ice may be totally absent this summer or next for the first time in a very LONG time, oil is running out starting now, along with easy coal and gas in the next 10 to 15 years and uranium not too much longer after that, and clean water and food are already in dire shortage in a number of parts of the world, with 850 million in chronic malnutrition or starvation.

Where will big change in society first be seen? Will it be grass-roots i.e. informed citizens taking decisive actions to build local survival capability, or will it be government that will finally legislate extreme and effective steps to start dealing with the crisis? Or, will the benefits of green business cause more and more products and plans to be environmentally sound, changing society.

You can also discuss this and its variations at Environmental Awareness and Green Action group.

I don't have the answer but I did try to bring attention to the new channel on cable the green channel. It repeats alot right now because it's new.But people can not only get educated on damage of the environment, but really find out how to live green.

Thank you, that sounds like useful information. There are also Web sites with varied approaches to that topic.

I'm just trying to learn as much as I can.

And hopefully start doing things that are more environmentally friendly for the planet!

There is a lot of information out there, but it takes a while to understand the big picture. My own site is http://www.PlanetThoughts.org, and it has serious information including science and policy information on critical issues. Other sites about living green include http://www.thedailygreen.com and http://greenoptions.com. Hope those help!

We have Pro-Choice, open sex, support for Aids, less church attendance, Preachers saying what the people want to hear to keep their job. Concoms in school, God out of public places, etc. The Old Testament gives answers to these problems. God is in the State as much as He is in the Church. They are still breathing aren't they? God breathed life into man. To take God out prompts a response from HIM. Man needs to recognize God to prosper. There a lot of examples where He punished people for turning away from Him, Noah's day, Pharoah, Korah, Lots new home Sodom,, Philistines, to name a few. I really think we would prosper with rain, abundance of food and gas etc.if we had less greed from liberals and more attention toward God and thankfulness for blessings from God

I grew up on the farm. We bought sugar, tea, coffee and bananas for Groceries. We grew the rest. We had a Sunday outfit for Church, Two outfits for School and we used the woreout ones for everyday. We never heard of Paper towels, plates, tissue paper or zerox machines. We did take the newspaper. Dad fertilized the soil and used DDT (Poisoning) on the plants. (crops & food) for pesticides. We had never heard of Climate change. However we were criticized for using DDT. So, Dad stopped using that. I would not encourage being THAT frugile but maybe a little common sense and a little self denial would go along ways. I still hold that man has not been good stewarts of the land and has to be punished unless there is a Change.

Thanks for your thoughts, Leona. It is interesting hearing about how people can live a more simple way. We may be going back to that, after a lot of crying and moaning! Hopefully we can minimize the suffering, if people will start to be good stewards of the planet.
