From everything I have read so far on TBD, many of you are clearly freethinking individuals.

July 14th was a turning point for me, as if some magical veil was lifted and I was given the permission (for a lack of a better word) to rid the shackles of my past and of what others thought and think of me.

I now feel like I could say what I want to say, do things I want to do, and wear things I want to wear, being the fearless, fun and fabulous person I have become through all of my wonderful life experiences…and yet, again, this is why this web site is so great, TBD!

And in some cliché words, I don’t sweat the small stuff, yes I do sweat, OMG. MENOPAUSE, but not the small stuff!

I know I have evolved when I listen to the younger set talk about their issues with their significant others, the jealousies, etc. – now I say what a waste of energy. I have learned you cannot control what others do or what they think. Do you ever remember saying to your significant other while lying in bed or driving in the car, when all is silent, “What are you thinking?” Well I do.

That's great that you are feeling free like that. Enjoy it. Not too many people are self actualized like that.

Welcome to the rest of your life. You have found the secret to successful living. No more whining because someone didn't live down to your expectations ... or up to them. No more moaning that you can't find happiness. You have discovered that it isn't packaged and only available to cable subscribers.

If you want to wear torn sweats to the restaurant and it isn't against their dress code, you do it. Hell, do you know how much I saved by letting go of dress standards? Well, I did just buy 2 condos if that gives you a hint.

So your neighbors bought a Beemer? Be a fly on the wall the first time they have to pay for a repair or a replacement part! Be their heart the first time they see a scratch on it.

Smile the next time you see people take crap from a clerk at McDonalds who shorts their french fry order or the guy at the market who cuts their American cheese thick when they said thin.

Or, worse yet, when some bloviator posts something on TBD that is so vile that you would respond with anger from your deathbed and the responses are pure puff pastry allowing the person to stomp all over the people and the program, you know what it means to free yourself of group think and allow yourself to express what is on your mind - without resorting to personal slurs, of course. Just because you are free doesn't give you the right to stomp on an individual but you can express how you feel about what he or she said.

Freedom is not license. It is freedom to live outside of conformity not outside civilization.

Welcome to an always small but exciting club. There are certainly others here who are in the same mode. I don't have to introduce them. You will know them by what they say and do here.

Hi to all

I am so happy to have found this site. Every day I read things that I can relate to which helps a lot while I am trying to live life on lifes terms. I need all the help I can get with that.

I am finally into enjoying my life after so many years of trying to control the external and believing thats where my source of peace, joy, security, comfort and security came from. I too have reached a turning point and no longer care (as much) what others think. I am a work in progress and look forward to absolute freedom in that area. (I know - good luck with that)

I also enjoy the smart @ss remarks; they help me lighten up. I never again want to suffer from terminal seriousness.

It sure is nice to climb out of the emotional holes we dig for ourselves in the early years. Enjoy your new-found freedom !

I'm learning to feel it... from the wise words of Maxine....

"Now that I'm older I thought it was great that I seemed to have more patience.

Turns out that I just don't give a shit......"
