In case any of you missed it, Robin Wolaner has an article in the Nov. 19, 2007 Newsweek about tbd.com, entitled "A Facebook for Boomers."

http://www.newsweek.com/id/68907

Robin wrote, in part, "Our staff of 20 could never create as much content as our membership of thousands has already unleashed. When that membership is in the hundreds of thousands - expected in 2008, based on our first six weeks of growth - I believe we will be making midlife better for us all."

I enjoyed reading the article and hope you will, too. Good work, Robin!

Well let's see ..there are 625 member pages with 15 members per page = 10,275 members. Hundreds of thousands of members in 2008 , might be "overly optimistic".

There is a lot of content ..but so much of it is a cross between Oprah Whiny and Dr.Phil, that it is pathetic !

MInd you ..a lot of that remark is aimed at the Q&A Section where so many questions have "so many members" with no face, no Bio, no favorite questions answered, very few if any posts etc.Maybe they are just "testing the water around here".

I found the Discussions just a "tad better" than the manucia found in the Q&A Section. Now I am surfing the groups (pretty hard to find if you don't see that tiny "go to" in the near upper left corner of the home page) and trying to see if there are "things that interest me".

One thing is for sure, if this site is a "place for Boomers" ..the over 40 crowd must be real thin in the "I just made 60+ arena". So much of what I read here is "I wish life could be like a box of chocolates".

But that's OK ..you all have another 20 plus years to "figure out the truth". In the mean time, I will have collected 18 years of $ocial $ecurity - dollars and have spent my 401K, as well. I have no plans to leave any for my kids or for you either. The TRUTH is, I paid my $$-taxes and I am going to collect every penny the government promised me !

Thanks, neat and tpschier. A funny story about the Newsweek piece. Some domain grabber registered tooboodoo.com after the piece appeared. I wrote to the owner of record and told them they were stealing my 9-year-old's concept and THEY ABANDONED IT and sent me a note saying I could now buy it at cost (which has been done). It restored my faith in humanity, and will make a nice $19.95 gift for my daughter the entrepreneur.

It was this article that lead me to TBD. I'm still not entirely sure what I expect to get out of spending time on this website but so far I'm intrigued by the variety of topics that have been presented so far.
