Belly Button Makeovers???

I saw a headline the other day that made me smile (then really start thinking about my belly button as more than a lint catcher). The headline was about how plastic surgeons are seeing an increase in belly button makeovers. I really do not think about my belly button much and it does not seem as important as say, my big toe or my ears. Why would one have a belly button makeover (unless it was the result of an accident or something)?? Mine is an innie, by the way . . .

This subject on belly buttons makes me think back to my childhood. I remember my mother telling me to never unbutton my belly button or my butt would fall off. I was always very careful when I took a bath to make sure my belly button stayed buttoned :-) Whatever would I do if my butt fell off???

I have to admit it was such a good story; one which I have shared with my children.

Not too sure about the makeovers, maybe some adults tried to unbutton their belly buttons one too many times as children. :0)

Hey, my mom told me the same story--it must be on the "Mom's Manual!" Although I did play with my belly button and I still have a butt!! And have you ever noticed that your belly button is the perfect size to fit a finger???

Roxley,

Maybe since cosmetic surgery is more popular than when we were children we need to change the "mom manual" to stay with the times. We should warn our children if they play with their belly button it may result in plastic surgery one day." :0))

It is sure true that times have changed, especially in regard to plastic surgery. I still prefer to try and age gracefully (and spend my money on travel rather than try to do away with wrinkles--which I earned honestly, by the way).

People who get this kind of surgery have more money than brains.

I agree, CarolT! I see the need for plastic surgery after a disfiguring accident, but I have a hard time with those who do it simply for vanity's sake. If I had that kind of extra money I would rather help someone less fortunate than me.
