Assisted Suicide

Under what conditions might you consider end of life euthanasia? Would you participate in an Assisted Suicide. (I'm really talking about end of life issues, not depression. The Dyslexic Dodger brought this up in another conversation, and I thought it was a good topic.

Do you feel that Medically Assisted Suicide should be government sanctioned? (Bet the insurance companies would jump on that bandwagon.)

What are your religious or ethical concerns regarding this topic?

There would never be a time i would want to be on the decision making end. It would have to have been previously discussed, agreed upon and in writing, it wouldnt make it any easier but out of respect i would honor the request. As far as myself, there are circumstances i would definitely want to be let go, assisted or otherwise.. Quality of life (mine) wins out over any religious concerns here. The government has enough on their plate...

It would have to be planned ahead of time, too. By the time I was ready to check out, I imagine substantial infirmity. I do have KCN, but CO or diethyl ether? might be the way to go. I dont forsee anything soon, and frankly, I dont know if I would want to do it or not. Kind of like you gotta be there...? If someone asked for my help, that'd be a tough one.

Thats a tough one. I'm not sure how I really think about this issue. Before technology it was just God's business really but beings man is now all involved in it like everything else, we are now faced with these types of issues. One thing I do know is that one family member should not have the say, whether that be the spouse or children. It should take a committee of people to help make a decision. Its usually a mess no matter how its done though.

Wow ..great topic !

I am an advocate for "Death with Dignity".! Or as commonly referred to Physician Asissted Suicide.

- Terminally ill people or conditions wherein the quality of life to a person is beyond reasonable coping, should be a choice NOT considered illegal (against the law).

- Religion has absolutely nothing to do with the issue, unless the individual chooses it to be ..in other words..keep ones own religion to thier self and don't force it upon other people !

- For government ..STOP trying to control my life. Do not create barriers to my own personal choice !

IMHO - the only ethical argument "againt" Death with Dignity". is to employ it without medically established standards.
