This Ron Paul Guy

OK.. First let me start by saying I do not follow politics. I do not enjoy politics and might I add, I have limited faith in our current administration if any at all. With that said..

I have a morning radio show in a small industrial town (what once was) in upstate NY. Population 18,000 so as you can see, we are not the political mecca of the world by any means.

I received a call not too long ago while I was on the air asking me if I had the opportunity to watch any Ron Paul videos on-line. This came after I posted the song Mr. President by PINK on my web site ( www.wakeuptothevibe.com Favorite Links page) . The person who called did not agree with me on the PINK song but that is OK because I have my own opinions of the song and truth be known, it is only a song but it does force you to think not to mention PINK has an incredible voice with plenty of emotion. Anyway.. enough about the song. My caller asked me what I thought about Ron Paul. I had no knowledge of this man and was not afraid to admit this on air to the listening audience.

That same day.. I was driving in my car when I noticed a banner hanging from a bridge that said GOOGLE RON PAUL.

I laughed and said.. What a coincidence the same name in front of me on the same day. So needless to say.. a couple of weeks later (I am slow to move on things like this), I decided to Google Ron Paul. I just spent the last hour watching YouTube videos, reading information from his web site and watching CNN videos on his behalf.

I would be interested to see what people in this forum have to say. I am impressed by this man from the one hour of his exposure but it is not enough for me to form an opinion. Besides, I am not one to voice my opinion in politics because I am the average Joe who would rather talk about the latest blues singer to enter the music arena.

What are your thoughts on this guy? Google Ron Paul and come back and post your opinions. Maybe we will agree that his words are impressive. Please let us agree to disagree before you come back to post.

Happy surfing. Ron Paul for President? You decide!

Joe

I’ll be glad to jump in on this. I used to follow and be involved with politics A LOT. As I have gotten older, I have realized that the system is so corrupt that nothing short of a violent revolution will ever change what really needs changing. Im not going into detail about everything I have been involved with, but will say that I have met and discussed with Dick Cheney face to face. I support www.givemeliberty.org and TOTALLY support Ron Paul and have for over a decade. Ron Paul is more of a Statesman than a politician. His voting record supports the oath he took to support and defend the Constitution. By the way, I will note that I have never met anyone in my life that is as evil as Dick Cheney. And I truly mean that. I have looked into his eyes. I have seen his body language. Satan cannot be more evil and cunning than Cheney.

There is a sign here in Charlotte, hanging on an overpass fence. "Ron Paul for President" Never heard of him till I saw the sign last week. I thought it was a college student or something.

Go figure.

I've only recently started hearing things about Ron Paul myself, and I do like what I am hearing.

He seems to be less Politician and more American than any other candidate. His ideas for less government are fantastic but I fear they may be out of reach.

I'll be watching him, and encourage everyone to do the same. It'll be interesting to see how things pan out in the new year.

Happy day to all!

Teddy Rosevelt is the only person to run and win as an independent. Nothing could do more to turn this counrty back on track than for the people to do what was done for TR. Wake up – get involved – and make it happen. If Ron Paul is not on your ballot, write him in. Be bold and talk to your family and friends and neighbors or yes – put a sign in your yard and a sticker on you card. Even if you have to make one up from scratch. Ron Paul can sign up to run; but it is the people that have to make it happen.

To me, it is a simple matter of two questions.

The first is how much do you belive in principles of this country. That is, 1) LIMITED government. 2) The individual is sovereign.

The second question is how much do you love your grandchildren and their children…and their children? Do you care if they get enslaved by over-powering taxation and government power?

I have a friend that lives in Ohio. By the time he paid his Federal, State, AND CITY income tax, almost 60 of his income went to taxation. That did not include hidden taxes. Since power and taxation are intertwined, at what point will taxation (and power) be at 80 percent? – and then 85 percent? – and then 90 percent? Are you willing to sale and enslave your grandchildren - or their children - to the government? Or do you love them enough to end the madness.

OH that is so hard and you can’t fight government you say. Well if you think it is hard now, what do you think it will be like for them to stand up and re-gain what is rightfully their – their liberty?

OK – I have said my peace. I will take the compassionate warrior off his box now. (As to my term compassionate warrior – see the discussion on, Real Men in Modern Society - http://www.tbd.com/group/184/discussion/31938/view#comment-33038 )

Bimply by putting Ron Paul in as President, we can start turning the tide of UNlimited governemt and UNlimited taxation.

Ron Paul has become very popular in certain circles. Living in Phila. down the street from the Constitution Center,Liberty Bell and the Hall where the Declaration was signed it is a very busy place for people wanting their freedoms and the Constitution to stay in tact. Ron Paul was here Veterans Day weekend with several hundred supporters. Not a very big showing for someone who raising a lot of money and eyebrows. I'm not political and do not care for many politicians but I went to see and here him speak.

I have heard his message before and have heard others speak of him back on the 4th of July at the same place. I think his main attraction is he speaks what he believes and he believes in the Constitution. That is good in some respects and not so good in others. The anti war group support him because he speaks clearly about the truth of why and how we are in the mess we are in. He voted against the war and he is a Republican and a Libertarian and to me that is the down side.

It is refreshing to hear some one speak what some of us believe to be the truth,so I think that is his appeal right now but when those who are yelling his name at rallies and hanging up his signs understand the downside to how he would like government to run. I don't think he will get very far.

I could be wrong, like I say I am not into politics I just know I get a bad feeling in my stomach when I hear the current leaders speak.

WOW! It hasn’t been 10 hours on this post and I am impressed by the reaction and conversation taking place here.

A few thoughts from the posts on this topic.

Lost_Romantic.. You have inspired me to not only dig deeper on this man, but to inspire others to do so. I believe in change and I believe we need change. I am watching and voicing on a local level my opinions and efforts on city government. I have watched our local leaders help our city fade into industrial decline putting us in a direction of poverty. Sadly I will admit I had my head in my ass over the past 22 years and did not watch nor pay attention to the lunatics running local and national Government

I was one of these ignorant men who were self-consumed in furthering their careers, building a family and trying to do so as ONE man under God. I realize today it needs to be many men and women under GOD to make change happen.

So in the last year or so I started to become involved. I thought that the first step should be to change the mindset of the citizens in our community. The negative attitudes and the "nothing we can do to change" attitude. I have launched a local monthly magazine that would focus on the positive things in our community. The beautiful people and the unique places surrounding us. IN just seven issues, things started to change. New people began to emerge and ask how they can get involved. I took it a step further and went to the local radio station to see if I could have a one-hour show to promote the same positive energy. The station owner was reluctant but my begging convinced him to give me a one hour spot in their off time which is Saturday morning. Within two months, the phones were ringing and new listeners were spreading the good word of change and why we all need to get involved. It had a major ripple effect. To my surprise it would lead to an offer to become the morning host 4 hours a day.. every weekday. I am not blowing my horn and I have no advantage to tell my story here. I only hope that some people visiting this blog can be inspired to make a difference in their own community. One voice can make a difference. Especially when many ears can see, read and hear it. Bottom line.. Positive energy breeds positive energy. Now back to Ron Paul,

Lost_Romantic has inspired me to dig deeper in learning about Ron Paul. I am now inspired to spread the word to others in my community and plan to do so in my magazine and on my radio show. Many great facts in Lost_Romantics post. Do we trust our Government to build a better place for our children and our grandchildren? Do we surrender to a world based on raising taxes?

The time for change is NOW! We all need to read more become informed and make educated decisions. We need to think through and take action on how we can make a difference as One Man under God as well as Many Men under God.

I would like to thank all of you who are taking the time to voice their opinions in this forum. Thank you for keeping it respectful and for showing your passions and beliefs. Together we can make a difference.

A wise man once said.. We can not fix a problem with the mind that created it. In order to create change.. we have to change the way we think.

Read, learn and get involved and for the sake of God, please ask others to do so. My only regret in life is being so self consumed over the last 24 years. Thank God I am only 42 and there is still plenty of time for me to make a difference.

Peace to all.

Ron Paul has run for president before on the Liberitarian ticket. I think we needs to run as a Libertarian again and stop trying to crash the GOP party. Personally, I find his speaking style to be whinny and annoying. When it's his turn to speak during a debate, I turn down the volume.
