Whether it's a Strat or a Les Paul - who are your faves? Just to stimulate your thinking, let's start with:

Hendrix

Clapton

Jeff Beck

Jimmy Page

Peter Green

Townsend

George Harrison

Lowell George

Terry Haggerty (ever heard of The Sons of Champlin?)

Joe Walsh

Albert Lee (not Alvin, Albert)

Danny Gatton

...okay, you take over.

Right fuckin' on! This is a killer list. But, as I was walking the dog today, I realized I forgot:

Stephen Stills (my personal rock star hero)

Roy Buchanan

Santana

Neil Young (a unique sound, one must admit)

Albert and BB

Elvin Bishop (I've jammed with the guy and his records don't do justice to his chops)

Link Wray the one lunged wonder.

I am purposefully not including the R&B and fusion guys, just 'cuz I think it confuses the issue. But maybe we as a group can create some meaningul categories here and pick the true pre-pedal classics.

Those I'm leaving out, but that we can talk about:

Al Dimeola

Larry Corell

Larry Carlton

Jon Scofield (do really like this guy)

Robbin Ford

Eric Johnson

Wah-Wah Watson

Cornell Dupree

Eric Gale...

Etc. etc.

Let's see if we can stick to rock and electric blues and see what we come up with. Fuckin' great start, though. Get some of your pals to chip in.

Babalooey.

Oh. Fuck me. God bless Billy Gibbons and Mark Knopfle...and Robert Cray. For godsakes I work with his drummer, Kevin Hayes, when they're not on the road. I am so bad.

Thank you, brothers.
