Christmas or Holiday Top 10

I fear that it is too easy to let the frustrations of the season cause a bit of a drag on our lives. We've had several 'Happy Holiday' threads going . . . as we get closer I thought I'd add yet another.

Funny, inspirational, sarcastic, even caustic . . . do you have a Christmas, Holiday, or New Years Top 10 to share? (Top 10 reasons to avoid the holiday party at work, Top 10 reasons to dress the dog like a holiday character, Top 10 reasons to . . . fill in the blank)

My list:

Top 10 reasons to spend as much time with small children as possible this Christmas:

10. Alvin and the Chipmunks singing Christmas carols on every other radio station is REALLY annoying unless there are small children singing and laughing along.

9. You have a built in excuse to watch Frosty, Rudolph, and Santa Clause Is Coming To Town.

8. When kids are around Santa is REAL . . . it doesn’t matter that there’s a different one at each mall . . . they’re all REAL.

7. The Oooooo’s and Aaaahhhhh’s over each house that has lights up. And the absolute GLEE over the houses that have LOTS of lights, and lighted trains, and lighted figures, and lighted blow up snow globes, and Santa figures on the roof . . .

6. You always know what the date is, and you get to practice your math skills, as each day you are required to report on the exact date and how many days are left until Santa comes.

5. Excitement . . . . anticipation . . . . unlike any other time of year!!!

4. The joy of giving is even more joyful when the gift is met with giggles, shrieks of delight, hugs, tears, and “Mommy, I’ve wanted one of these ALL MY LIFE” (said by a 4 year old).

3. You get to play with the toys too!!! (Oh, wait, you’re just ‘testing it out’ . . . making sure it doesn’t break, right? . . . lol)

2. Kids don’t count or care how many Christmas cookies you’ve eaten . . . they don’t tell on you either (as long as you don’t tell on them).

1. You may have to remind them repeatedly what Christmas is REALLY about, but each time you repeat the TRUE meaning of the season, it reinforces it for you as well.
