Has anyone tried any of the dating/social networking clubs like Table for Six? I've gotten conflicting info. What have your experiences been?

Any method of meeting people will work if you meet someone interesting using it, even being stuck in an elevator. There is an organization in the San Francisco Bay area that runs dinners for atheists, creative types, self-employed, all sorts of hooks to assemble like minded folks. I met a very good casual friend who was in my life for several years through them. You never know.

Salon@meetinggame.com in the S.F. Bay Area runs all sorts of mixers - speed dating, discussion groups, and dinners for likeminded people like creative types, post graduates, atheists/agnostics. At one such dinner a met a man I saw casually and satisfactorily for several years. The worst that can happen is a disappointing evening.

All you can get from others is their personal experiences. Sometimes one is lucky, sometimes not.

Lightning can strike anywhere. The issue with dating clubs like Table for Six is not the club itself, but your comfort level in that type of situation. Dating clubs might be great for outgoing people who get energized by meeting new folks. But for shy types who feel uncomfortable in crowds, a dating club might be torture. It's not about what "it" is. It's about who you are.
