I can't wait to see this show! Stax was an extremely influential label, and its story is fascinating. I have the box set of the Stax singles, and the booklet that comes with it sheds a lot of light on the Stax story. Being able to see it come to life will be an added treat. Thanks for this notice!

There is an excellent article in this week's Rolling Stone's 40th Summer of Love issue about Stax and how the record company was a highly creative island of diversity in the great sea of segregation that engulfed Memphis and most of the rest of the South. Between 1959 and 1975, Stax Records in Memphi... Great music came out of that label. I have a special appreciation for Johnnie Taylor's 'Who's making love' and 'Cheaper to keep her', and Shirley Brown's 'Woman to woman.' Thanks for alerting me to the PBS special.
