Out of respect for fellow tbders of all beliefs, I'm going to post the following, non-secular, inspiring words, below.

Also, what are some of your favorite quotes, poems, and writings, that have inspired you, and given you help, courage and hope?

" People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.

LOVE THEM ANYWAY.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.

DO GOOD ANYWAY.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.

SUCCEED ANYWAY.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.

BE HONEST AND FRANK ANYWAY.

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas, can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest ideas.

THINK BIG ANYWAY.

People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs.

FIGHT FOR A FEW UNDERDOGS ANYWAY.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.

BUILD ANYWAY.

People really need help, but may attack you if you do help them.

HELP PEOPLE ANYWAY.

Give the world the best you have, and you may get kicked in the teeth.

GIVE THE WORLD THE BEST YOU HAVE ANYWAY.

Will Rogers, who died in a plane crash with Wylie Post in 1935, was probably the greatest political sage this country has ever known. Enjoy the following:

1. Never slap a man who's chewing tobacco.

2. Never kick a cow chip on a hot day.

3. There are 2 theories to arguing with a woman...neither works.

4. Never miss a good chance to shut up.

5. Always drink upstream from the herd.

6. If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

7. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it and put it back in your pocket.

8. There are three kinds of men: The ones that learn by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.

9. Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

10. If you're riding' ahead of the herd, take a look back every now and then to make sure it's still there.

11. Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier'n puttin' it back.

12. After eating an entire bull, a mountain lion felt so good he started roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot him. The moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut.

ABOUT GROWING OLDER...

First ~ Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.

Second ~ The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

Third ~ Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Fourth ~ When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth, think of Algebra.

Fifth ~ You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.

Sixth ~ I don't know how I got over the hill without getting to the top.

Seventh ~ One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it is such a nice change from being young.

Eighth ~ One must wait until evening to see how splendid the day has been.

Ninth ~ Being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.

Tenth ~ Long ago when men cursed and beat the ground with sticks, it was called witchcraft. Today it's called golf.

And finally ~ If you don't learn to laugh at trouble, you won't have anything to laugh at when you are old.

Editor, thanks a lot, I loved reading these wonderful, and fun quotes by Will Rogers, who was truly one of America's greats! I think my favorite one, was the last one that you posted, because it's so correct! If we can't learn to laugh when trouble comes a knockin', then we'll never be able to have fun when we're old!

Southerbl, love that poem, it reminds me of Martina McBride's song, "Do it Anyway":

Do It Anyway Lyrics

You CAN spend your whole life buildin'

Something from nothin

One storm can come and blow it all away

Build it anyway

You CAN chase a dream

That seems so out of reach

And you know it might not ever come your way

Dream it anyway

God is great but sometimes life aint good

And when I pray

It doesn't always turn out like I think it should

But I do it anyway

I do it anyway

This worlds gone crazy

And it's hard to believe

That tomorrow will be better than today

Believe it anyway

You can love someone with all YOUR heart

For all the right reasons

And in a moment they can choose to walk away

love em anyway

God is great but sometimes life aint good

And when I pray

It doesn't always turn out like I think it should

But I do it anyway

Yeah I do it anyway

You can pour your soul out singin'

A song you believe in

That tomorrow they'll forget you ever sang

Sing it anyway

Yeah sing it anyway

I sing

I dream

I love anyway.

I appreciated your posting of Martina McBride's endearing, similar lyrics,to the song,"Do It Anyway", LoraMa, thanks!

Kudos, also, to my tbd bud, Sir Frogalot: Great quote, above, we need reminders to appreciate what we've already got!

Reminds me a bit of the Stone's tune/lyric:

"You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need."

Someone sent me this the other day. It is a bit irreverent, but if you give it a little thought, it is still meaningful, "A positive attitude won't solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to be worth your while."

I love this quote, thanks, 40snfabulous!

Lately, I've been smiling moreso when in public, even at disgruntled store employees, and making pleasant small-talk. Most of them seem to appreciate it, but, when some people are in too much of a funk to respond, I just continue my happy persona, anyway. It can't do any harm, and who knows, maybe they'll feel better afterwards, and remember ,"the kindness of strangers".
