Mensa's Favorite TV Shows

Okay, I just read a ridiculous list on Yahoo. Apparently, Mensa (the club for geniuses) named these 10 shows the smartest on TV... ever:

Frasier

The West Wing

Boston Legal

Jeopardy

Carl Sagan's Cosmos

House

CSI

All in the Family

Mad About You

M*A*S*H

Seinfeld didn't make the list... or Sopranos... or Six Feet Under... or even NYPD Blue? These Mensa folks clearly don't watch much TV. What other shows do you think they missed?

I KNEW I was a genius!!! With the exception of Carl Sagan's Cosmos (which I've never even hear of) and Boston Legal (which I can't watch because the way they film it gives me a headache), they've listed several of my favorite shows.

The rest of my favorite shows aren't on this list for a very good reason. I mean really, "Friends" wasn't exactly cerebral. And there wasn't a whole lot of 'depth' to Dharma and Greg.

So . . . I guess that makes me a genius with a sense of humor!

Happy to say I watched most of these. Do think The Sopranos should have, at least, gotten Honorable Mention. Would have also liked to see "Gray's...", "Rescue Me", and "Saving Grace" added to the list.

Wow, LoraMa.

Although I understand why the above shows made their list (all of which are my favorites except "CSI" and "All in the Family"), it baffles me how "All in the Family" got on the list!! I just don't see the intellect in this show whatsoever, although it is funny from a stupidity standpoint.

I'm also surprised that Seinfeld (my favorite show) didn't make the list. It's witty and it's intellectual.

Now, Carl Sagan's Cosmos is my brother's favorite. He has all of Carl Sagan's books and videos, which he often forces me to watch.

I can truly understand why Carl Sagan is on the list. I actually think my brother needs to join Mensa.

Hmmm...

What about Hogan's Heroes, McHale's Navy, Gilligan's Island, The Beverly Hillbillies, Star Trek, Next Gen, Gunsmoke, Bonanza, F-Troop, Mayberry, Gomer Pyle, Petticoat Junction. Leave it to Beaver, I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners, Laugh-In, The Wild Wild West, The Tales of Brisco County Jr., Dallas, Falcon Crest, Miami Vice, Babylon 5, St. Elsewhere, Moonlighting and Magnum PI?

Not to mention Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, Captain Kangaroo, The Mickey Mouse Club, Shining Time Station and Blue's Clues.

Boy I tell ya kids these days.

Tweedledum,

These shows probably aired before the majority of Mensa members were born!! LOL

But, I must say that you list brings back some real memories, especially "Petticoat Junction".

If they're so smart, why are they watching TV enough to have *ten* favorite shows?

The Ten Smartest Shows on TV? What next, The Ten Prettiest Women in Prison?
