There are still a few around here but I don't go. Last time was 30 years ago and we saw a Bruce Lee movie.

What did you see?

Any good memories associated with them?

We have one that opened a few miles from us - "Field of Scenes".

Great fun for the family.

They have a mini-golf course, game room in a separate out building, very nice snack bar - well you can't really call it a snack bar since they have pizza, burgers, and other large items - hay rides, volley ball court, basketball court.

We go two or three times each summer.

I know, not the memories you were hoping to hear about.

I remember going to the drive-in a lot.

Funny...I don't remember seeing any movies though.

Our family use to go to the drive in almost every weekend. It was great inexpensive fun. We had an Edsel station wagon and the four children would bring blankets and pillows because we rarely lasted through the second movie. In those days dad could give us some money and we could go in for popcorn and drinks. Great memory thanks!

The last time that I went to a drive in movie, I went with two ladies I baby sat for and the four kids (under the age of 4) that I babysat. We had to sit through the movie twice to get to hear the movie once. Which, actually, was just as well because I spent the first time through in the backseat with the kids, putting them to sleep.

The theater was the drive-in in Deerfield Beach, FL, on the corner of US-1 and (I think it was 10th street), now it's a bank, I think. The movie was "Jaws."

I babysat those kids all summer and we never went to the beach once that year. But we did bake a lot of cookies. And oddly enough, it was also the first year of Sesame Street.

Isn't it funny what you'll remember?

-----------

If you want to talk about when I was a child in Detroit, before moving to FL....

My grandfather bought this Stuedabaker station wagon for his machine shop and would let my mother use it when she took us to the drive in. The back end of the roof slid forward, and we'd stand up shop chairs through the roof. We'd sit there and have the perfect view.

I remember seeing a double feature at a drive-in when my mother was on a date. She and her date fell asleep in the front seat while they were waiting for us to fall asleep. My sisters went to sleep.

So, I watched the kiddie movie, the "Intermission" thing-y, the Woody Woodpecker cartoon, and "Bridge on the River Kwai."

God knows, I *tried* to wake my mother up...but the only thing that woke her was when they blew up the bridge. That went over like a lead balloon.

Another one I remember was the movie that gave me my first look at (and my crush on) Sean Connery --- "Darby O'Gill and the Little People."

And there was a movie that I remembered for only one scene -- there was a man in bed sleeping and this *BIG* hairy spider comes walking up the sheet. It didn't help that I was scared of spiders and this one was as big as a mouse.... It was 45 years before I saw that movie again and found out it was a James Bond movie. LOL!!!

I don't remember all the movies we saw at the drive in, but that was a few of them. When I was in high school, I was much more fond of indoor movies. I lived in FL and was not fond of bugs.

Where I used to live back in high school, there was a drive in by a sewage treatment center. I remember going there with my BF. By the time the movie was over we were both sick. It was a hot, muggy night. And I don't mean that in a good way.

Best memory: In the Bronx with my parents & brother watching Frankie & Annette in "Beach Blanket Bingo".

Now that reminds me of my Grandfather taking us to see "The Sound of Music" probably 10 times (maybe more). I just know that I the whole score memorized before it left the (indoor) theater.
