A Good Catch . . .

My beloved papa-in-law died (2/25/08). He was 86. I think that no matter how old you are when your parents pass on, it is still very hard. He was visiting friends in Florida at the time and was with his 90 year old ladyfriend (Mum passed several years ago). Luckily we caught up with them and got to have dinner with them when we were on vacation last month. I can remember him telling me that he was considered quite a catch by the ladies because "I have a full head of hair and my own teeth." I smiled at him and agreed "Yes, Dad you are a good catch." I am grateful we have so many good memories. I am sure that when the entire clan gets together for the family memorial (there are over 60 in the immediate family!!) there will be lots of stories and much laughter intertwined with the tears. Peace, Papa. We love you. We miss you.

He will be remembered fondly and with smile. And I will always think of him as "a good catch."

I decided to give up being an astronaut for awhile and morphed back into myself. We loved San Antonio and the Alamo! And there is the best Riverwalk there. It was just gorgeous the day we were there! We ate at this really good Mexican on the Riverwalk called Casa Rio. It is about 20 degrees here today so when I look at that picture I remember the sunshine!!

You can be anything you want to be. I'll love ya just the same.

I was in San Antonio for a conference 2 years ago. Even ate at the same Mexican restaurant. Great food & margaritas. I loved the area. I even blew off a few seminars to walk over to the Alamo.

THanks for sharing the photos. Isn't that what life is all about? Happy memories and living it to the fullest to create those memories.

Thanks, midagehippie. I know some people who are so afraid of dying that they don't really live. My in-laws were good people. I always felt like part of the family.

Luckily we still have my folks with us.
