Best Beatles' Songs?

I recently asked a friend what she thought were the 5 best Beatles' songs. She answered by saying, "That's a tough one. It's like saying what was your best sex ever, or what was your best meal?" I really like her.

My favorites (keep in mind I think the Beatles are the greatest musical force of all times--I can hear the objections from 1000 miles away) in no particular order;

A Day in the Life

Something

Let It Be

Nowhere Man

In My Life

What are your favorites from the Beatles? List as few or as many as you want.

The challenge I experience in this effort is choosing tunes that I myself would agree with tomorrow. One might plausibly select a few "best ever" Beatles tunes that would stand the test of time ("a list to last a lunchtime," as the Rutles might put it) -- but one's favorites surely vary with each new sun.

That said, here's today's list:

Happiness Is a Warm Gun

(She's Got the) Devil in Her Heart

Savoy Truffle

And Your Bird Can Sing (unreleased 'Anthology' take)

Lonesome Tears in My Eyes (BBC - 1963)

I've Got a Feeling

First of all - I love this question! By the time I was 3 years old, they were my favorite band (my parents were huge fans) and they've remained so year after year despite the wide range of music that I love and listen to incessantly. I agree with Jon that my list would be different tomorrow, but today's list is:

1. Dear Prudence

2. Blackbird

3. Golden Slumbers

4. Happiness is a warm gun

5. While My Guitar Gently weeps

while my guitar gently weeps

something

I will

I'll follow the sun

don't let me down

dr. robert

tomorrow never knows

Norwegian Wood

nowhere man

someone stop me, I give up, too many that truly love

Well, as a fan of obscure and unusual music one of my favorite Beatles tunes has always been on that was originally released on the B-Side of the original Let It Be 45- "You Know My Name, Look Up the Number." Easily dismissed as a throwaway number, it's full of sly wit and is musically inventive.

Also have to go with George's magnum opus- While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

Ballad of John & Yoko.

Yesterday- the older I get, the more true it is.

To cap off the list: I Am the Walrus- a great psychedelic anthem. The greatest band pushing the limits.
