Your Mascot Sucks...Posted: Mar 6, 08 2:37pmI just saw this post about the NCAA March Madness Basketball bonanza... A person can go through their whole life and not know that a famous university (hello, Syracuse!) is represented by a little orange. An orange! and his name is Otto! That's Otto the Orange. What the...?! I'm from California and I always thought the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs were pretty pathetic... but an orange? That has to be the most UNintimidating mascots EVER! You happen to be talking about a highly esteemed academic institution, with alums helping lead society in the arts, journalism, government, science and entertainment. Not mention our athletic prowess and national championships in basketball, football, rowing, cross country, and lacrosse to mention just a few. And, hey, we may be diminutive citrus morsel, but at least we are not a Hoya, a Hokie, a White Mule or, ahem, a Gamecock. Condolences to Georgetown, VaTech, Colby, and South Carolina, respectively.
