If You Knew Then What You Know Now.....

...what might you have done? For example, if I, in my early 20s knew what I know now, I might have studied ethnobotany in college instead. I might have taken my research to the Amazon and lived amongst tribal peoples studying the relationship between the development of higher consciousness in humans and the use of powerful plants that alter the mind. I might have done that, if I had my shit together, but in fact, I did not. Mostly I was just trying to hold myself together and figure it all out. And the subsequent life experience I have had leads me to look back, and think on that particular subject matter.

Maybe you always had it together. Maybe you figured it out later. But please, tell me: How about you?

Because, you know what? There is still time to fit in the pieces we might have left behind.......

One or 2 things come to mind, I'd had joined the Coast Guard, or if not that, after my first marriage went down the toilet I'd had accepted that offer i got in the mail to enter the Maritime Radio Officer's Union's apprentice program.

And I would NOT have gotten married the second time.

Come to think about it, I wouldn't have gotten married the first time, but I still would have had my daughter just the same. She's a neat person.

Changing things would change who I am today... and I kinda think I am pretty OK just like this.

That being said, I would have skipped the whole marital enchilada. Or at least, skipped marrying who I did, as that was a WASTE of my good energy.

I can't say whether I would have finished my degrees by now or not. Life is fascinating, and I will never really be done learning. So having my education open-ended like that doesn't really bother me. Some people think they stop learning when they leave college with that piece of paper. Not I....

I wouldnt change a thing. Sure, I made plenty of mistakes back then, some huge. But I figure it was all part of getting to where I am today--great marriage, great kids/grandkids, great health, great career.

Life is good

I wouldn't change a thing.

Life's been good. The things that have not been so good made me wiser so that the events that followed were even better.

I'd plant the same exact garden of my past, because despite the weeds, so many beautiful things came out of it.
