TBD Friend Invites from Strangers?

I've gotten 3 Friend invitations from 3 strangers - that is TBD members that I haven't seen in any of the boards that I belong to & frequent.

Has that happened to anyone else?

I 'messaged' one of them... and got a reply 3 days later that was one sentance that didn't mean anything to me - and certainly wasn't a reply to my message.

Should I accept them as friends and see what happens or just decline the invitations?!?

Myself too. I accept them.

People do read your posts.

Being a forum site, complete with many threads to many varying subjects, this intrigues some people's interest and they add you to their friends.

Accept. The whole purpose of social media sites like this is to connect and interact. What's the harm?

It depends.

I'm like u. I send an email or check and see if they are on any of the threads I post on.

If I have something in common with them I accept. If they don't reply, or we have nothing in common, I decline.

I think some people like to collect!!! LOL!!!

I usually email too. Some people are nice enough.

But I have to admit, I have taken people off the list. Weird emails, perverts, and just plain mean spirited. About 4 of them. Seemed nice at first but weirded me out later.

Sometimes you have to take a chance. Took that chance with you Zen! ROFL!!!!

I was just talking about this subject. I have had the same thing happen. I think when your in the TeeBeeDee welcome lounge, people kind of browse through and pick people who are members.

Not a bad idea, but on any given day, you can be bombarded with invites. I always send an email to invite people. But I try to find people who have the same interests as I do and some people I'll write on the boards that really appeal to my sense of humor.

Recently, I received one invite from someone who wanted to flirt. But she was definitely not my type. Not to mention I didn't choose 'flirting' or 'dating' as the reason why I was here. Was very odd...

I think some people are just collectors. I read their profiles and the record of their posts before making a decision. I often leave a request open for awhile, to get a better sense of whether or not I would like that person in the offline world.

I have removed a few myself, who sounded nice but turned out to be weird or mean-spirited. If I wouldn't want to be around them personally, I don't care to be "friends" online.

I got one from someone in Nigeria and I didn't accept it. I have heard too many stories about scams from there.
