I think when your in the TeeBeeDee welcome lounge, people kind of browse through and pick people who are members. Not a bad idea, but on any given day, you can be bombarded with invites. I always send an email to invite people. But I try to find people who have the same interests as I do and some people I'll write on the boards that really appeal to my sense of humor. Recently, I received one invite from someone who wanted to flirt. But she was definitely not my type. Not to mention I didn't choose 'flirting' or 'dating' as the reason why I was here. I think some people are just collectors. I read their profiles and the record of their posts before making a decision. I often leave a request open for awhile, to get a better sense of whether or not I would like that person in the offline world. I have removed a few myself, who sounded nice but turned out to be weird or mean-spirited. If I wouldn't want to be around them personally, I don't care to be "friends" online.
