Best tech product ever?

I was having coffee with a few buddies the other day when Susan asked, "in your opinion, what's the single greatest tech product ever?"

What's somewhat humorous about that question is the fact that most of us in the group have problems working email and our cell phones! I know I do.

Anyway, TIVO and IPod seemed to get the most votes.

What's your vote?

Tivo gets my vote. I am free from thinking about "getting home to watch "x" show". I never look at commercials and I can get up and go do something else without feeling like I "have" to sit and watch the tube or wait until that episode comes around again to find out what happened. The punchline is that I really only watch Jon Stewart.

Oh, but indoor plumbing still rules over all.

I'll stick with cellphones as the best tech product ever... it can rescue you if you're lost, it makes meeting friends at the movies a snap, and it's probably the only product that even remotely keeps us tethered to our teens.

(But the best general product ever? dishwasher! oh how I love my dishwasher...)

Speaking for my many indolent male brothers . . . the remote.

I second the cellphone nomination. And now that I can email from my Perl, it's not strictly a cellphone...but the original cellphone was still the biggest leap forward.

The little wireless keyfob remote that unlocks your car door...I love my cell phone, but let me tell you when I'm wrangling two kids to get into the car, this little button is a lifesaver...and I actually think I use it more than my phone.

Eyeglasses? The light bulb? Am I out of step here? Oh yeah, and what StevenG said, flush toilets.
