I have cublicle mates that have no professional courtesies at all:
Speaking unnecessarily loud on telephones
Conducting hygiene acts in the workspaces (and leaving said acoutrements out)
Borrowing without permission
Eavesdropping
uh, shall we say gassy emissions
What are some of your horror stories of cubicle or open workspace intrusions?

I had a cube mate that would comment on phone conversations after I hung up - this included both profession and personal. He would comment on everything from dinner plans I discussed with my husband to what time I was going to meet with my boss the next day. Argh!

all sales...all males here...I got a guy who is loud obnoxious, hates his job, tells his customers that constantly, talks like the copier guy on SNL ...................I ignore all that...but when he's bored...he will imitate my keyboard typing or the way I answer the phone. I've already stood up and called him out on it. Then it stopped.

I currently have this problem. I try to turn my back so that my office mate cannot hear me. She will say something after I get off the phone as if she was part of my conversation. I have had some "interesting" phone conversations, so I can only imagine what she thinks I'm talking about! LOL
My previous office mate and I had an unwritten agreement that even if we did hear anything from the other's phone conversation, we wouldn't comment or repeat it. There were a few times when we just couldn't resist laughing while the other was on the phone because something was so funny. (Our desks were VERY close to each other.) We got along great and still do, but now are in different cells, um, I mean offices. ;)
I don't know how some people can hear so much from another's phone conversation. I tend to ignore/block out most of what goes on at the other side of my small office. After all, its none of my business.

My cubicle pet peeve is cubicle mates who carry on LOUD conversations, including raucous laughter while I am on a call. I have actually had to apologize to a client for the "party" going on in the cubicle next door.

My first cubicle was right outside my boss' office. Every phone conversation was conducted using the speaker phone. He was loud enough but we not only had to hear his loud mouth but the other side of the conversation. He was a disgusting man in every way. It was torture to have to work in that cubicle and it was right outside the women's restroom as well. It was punishment for being the new kid.

Incredibly rude--I've even seen people using hands free devices while using the bathroom at work. Plop, Plop, Fizz, Fizz Oh what a relief it is.

Our cube walls are just high enough that if you're sitting at your desk and someone over the wall stands up to have a conversation with you, you can only see their nose and up (and more accurately, up their nose). I HATE it when they try to have over the wall conversations with me while I'm working. If it's that important, walk around the freaking wall and talk to me. Otherwise, let me do my job. If I'm not standing up to join in the conversation, I DON'T want to look up your nose while you tell me about your elderly mom's colitis!

I've got a cube mate that yells at her kids, talks to teachers about how her daughter is going to get therapy and otherwise, has conversations that should be taken off the floor. People around her have complained to management about her conversations, but as of yet nothing has been done.

I work with an otherwise lovely woman who has small children, a husband with employment problems, overextended finances, and gynecological issues. And the reason I know all these things? LOUD phone conversations - calls to the doctor about the status of her IUD, calls to collection agencies, fights with her husband, disagreements with the kindergarten teacher. I sympathize, truly. I remember the young mother thing. But I so don't want to hear about it when I'm trying to work on reports and experimental write-ups.

The industry does this.
The Man is holdin' me down!
they force me to deal with customers and keep me preoccupied dealing with my ignorant co-workers and their issues.
So when its time to quit, I just want to leave instead of confronting the boss with the company's incompetence!
They keep these walls short for a reason. I'm gonna staple egg-crates to the walls and start going up, except the company has a policy about nothing higher than the cube wall!
The man is holding me down!

The worker in the regular sized cubicle nearest distance to mine has a dorm refrigerator, microwave, headset and radio, foot rest, coat rack and hugh flag hanging from the ceiling which blocks her in. She has her headset on pretty much all day listening to audio books. She also has her own coffee pot and pops pop corn regularly. Do you think maybe that she could be homeless or what?

I would end up doing just that too given my current situation... my 'cubicle' is also my home: my car....

I didn't realize how lucky I was to have my own office until space hit a premium and I got "bumped" out. Fortunately, my co-worker who sits right next to be is extremely quiet and pleasant to work with. It's the two on the other side of her wall that are loud and hard to ignore. I've also had to ask customers to repeat what they've said on the phone because I couldn't hear over the noise down the aisle. It's still not as bad as it could be!

I call her little miss Orgasm. She occupies the cube 5 down from me, and every conversation she has with a client starts with high pitched giggles and can often end with a lot of "Oh My God..." s thrown in. She ends the phone call with a seductive "you're very welcome". Plus she coughs non stop. I've sent her polite emails requesting she dial down the sound, but it doesn't help.
I have to wear my ipod at work to get stuff done...
