Not every contribution can or should be measured but here is a fun little exercise. As a percentage of kudos verses posts, go to your profile and look at the number of discussions you have started or commented on...for example mine is 271 (well 272 counting this one). Then take your helpful, funny and inspirational points...for example mine total 659. Then calculate your batting average, for example mine is 2.43
Gator Gal clocks me at 266 vs. 858 or 3.23
LanSR wins the productivity award 574 vs. 1663 or 2.89
As a benchmark Robin is 618 vs 1533 or 2.43 (Hmmmm I'm tied)
I figured Isadora would score well and she did
360 vs 1779 or 4.94 of course then I found a fault in my calcs...we should combined questions and postings, but let's keep it simple!!!
The exercise nudged me into thinking I should post a little less but say a lot more :)
Of course, I'd advocate that an original post should earn more points than a comment. One could also advocate for a scale 1-5 to recognize really great content. I also think Inspiration should outscore helpful but that would cross the line into "self absorbed poster dude"!
What's Yours?
Can you find the best score at TBD?

Posted: Jan 15, 08 9:21am
OMG we are exactly tied. I am afraid to post a response, what if I don't get kudo'd? And what if I kudo you and you don't kudo me?
Self-absorbed poster gal here.

Okay Spuff,
You inspired my naughty side...
Okay Math Wiz Brigade
Men, take your current TBD IQ and multiply it by your errr hmmm Mr. J at attention (in inches)
Brave, Braggers or Brazen TBD'ers post the result (let the ladies do the backwards math)
Yes, it is all about increasing our math acumen as a public service
Ladies, your not out you can either
a) Use your best estimate of your favorite past close encounter with a err hmmm Mr. J as the multiplier
-or-
b) Multiple by the largest lie you have ever been told in the Mr. J department.
Example; Joe Stud says "I'm "x", under further review you discover "y". x-y= the multiplier
Extra points for story lines
Back to my bottle of Jack :)

Trophy for Mr. Personality? ;)
I just bumped your score by 2

My kind of award!
Posted: Jan 15, 08 1:02pm
Great post.
Somebody should explain to the programmers about portrait vs landscape mode. Or maybe just leave it in is rather quaint form as is.
Posted: Jan 15, 08 9:48am
I think Milt T might have the best score (yes I've been keeping an eye on you people!)
Helpful (992) + Funny (421) + Inspirational (427) = 1840
391 Discussions/replies = 4.71
Posted: Jan 15, 08 2:10pm
Wow, Milt is setting the bar really high. Do I get a bump for number if not quality :)?
Posted: Jan 17, 08 12:02pm
Lora: Shhhh. Some of them were infield hits. Do they count as a whole point on Batting Average? I call it an infield hit when I post something I think is serious and someone calls it funny ... and there is no accounting for what people will call inspirational nowadays. Why just the other day, I heard a woman say that Britney Spears inspired her. Of course, she was smoking a crack pipe at the time.
Posted: Jan 17, 08 12:23pm
Accept those kudos with pride... another example of sarcasm backfiring.
Posted: Jan 15, 08 9:50am
Well, WC and Robin, I've kudo'd you both funny :) and would just like to say that with only 87 posts and a total of 312 kudos, my "TBD IQ" is 3.59, and I'm durned proud of it!
My humble thanks to all those who find me funny (less so recently), helpful, and inspirational! LOL
Posted: Jan 15, 08 9:55am
Okay, now post more often and leverage that score down so we all dont have to go to self-esteem rebuilding classes :)
Posted: Jan 15, 08 10:54am
Hi Surf, It's higher than my GPA when I graduated, by more than a full point. Valuable? No. Fun? Yes, and meant to be, I think.
And, WC, I'm trying. Posting lots of drivel today :)
Posted: Jan 15, 08 10:20am
thats a full percentage point higher than the combined GPA I had at the last three colleges I dropped out of.....and just as valuable
Posted: Jan 15, 08 11:43am
Oh great....more math!
I aleady screwed up the time zone difference for the LanSr thread.
Let me go get a calculator......
Posted: Jan 15, 08 12:19pm

nice picture - I'll see if my Mom will take one of me, in a few days. I've tried taking ones of myself and they always come out looking like I'm an alien or something
Posted: Jan 15, 08 12:57pm
I came in at 111/48 = 2.31, respectable. I posted a few odd balls and took a few down when I went back and cleaned up my act a bit.
Funny, we guys are so number conscious. I had already been mentally doing this anyways.
I think Oliva does very well on this measure.
More thinking relative to posts is clearly the right way to go.
Posted: Jan 15, 08 3:43pm
Thank you.
Dare I admit that I went and marked all of someone's serious comments as "funny"?
This comment will self destruct in oh......1 hour.
Posted: Jan 15, 08 3:45pm
Pssst:
Can I be kicked totally out of TBD or just out of discussions?
Posted: Jan 15, 08 6:25pm
I do not know the rules, but I do not think anyone gets kicked out unless they persistently put up very offensive material or personally malicious material. Robin would know.
I thought TBD was sending you the rule book? Maybe we were being spoofed, but that is the fun.
Cheers & congrats to Milt. His material is always terrific.
Posted: Jan 16, 08 3:41am
I got the book and it says nothing about staying on task. It does say, however, that everyone should send me $10 and a credit card number.
Oh, that's not the TBD book. That's my internet marketing book.
Posted: Jan 15, 08 1:59pm
7 discussions/replies 41 kudos equals 5.857
Posted: Jan 15, 08 2:11pm
Now see if it scales with volume :)
Posted: Jan 15, 08 2:50pm
MJM...Your our current leader on the board. However, I forgot to tell you about the 100 posting qualifier :)

Ah! Making up the rules as it goes along. Did not know you were a politician! LOL
Posted: Jan 15, 08 10:25pm
OMG! If I read another 100 of those posts I will have my first hotflash! BooYah!
Posted: Jan 15, 08 2:27pm
So if x * y = a b c/d
I win, my score is 15.340954
I'd like a sleeping pill as my math prize.
Deb the Insomniac
Posted: Jan 15, 08 2:52pm
Deb,
2.08
229+287+173= 689
divided by 339 posts
But it's okay to set a goal :)
Posted: Jan 15, 08 4:40pm
Sheesh, do you know how many more fake accounts (onehotmama, needmorelovin, 2hot4u are my next names-apologies if these are already taken here on TBD) that I have to set up to give myself fake kudos and win this contest?
Posted: Jan 15, 08 6:30pm
I am with ZaZu here. Think of how many three character airport codes can be combined with four digit numbers to make fake people pumping up my score.
Watch for LAS0711 (LAS is Las Vegas).
Posted: Jan 15, 08 6:44pm
LAX
Did you get YYZ Toronto
Sorry only Canadian one I know by heart
Posted: Jan 16, 08 8:22am

Posted: Jan 15, 08 6:44pm
Thanks lax. I figure out 2 math problems & got a photo posted without decapitation. I should run out & buy a lottery ticket. It's my lucky day!

Here wipe the sweat from yr brow and have a few more kudos spuff!
Posted: Jan 17, 08 12:47pm
Mine was 3.35, but it fluctuates. Can't we just put a gauge on it and get a daily average? *j/k not THAT big a geek... really*
Posted: Jan 15, 08 10:24pm
Just one question...does shameless begging and sucking up count for or against you? How about bribes? Ok, that was two. Need some math help here spuff!
Posted: Jan 16, 08 5:21am
oh geez...i put this in the wrong place.
