Greetings and welcome to TeeBeeDee!

I want to introduce myself. I am the Community Guide here. My job is twofold: 1) to make sure that your privacy and security are never, ever compromised on our site and 2) to do what I can to make your experience at TeeBeeDee more fun, rewarding and relevant to you.

So, If you have any questions or requests or feedback of any kind, don't be shy! I'd love to hear from you.

Why me?

Well, I've been passionate about the Internet's ability to bring people together since 1995, when my little modem took its first gulps from the AOL mothership. I met people from all over the world -- writers, physicists, waiters, lawyers, mechanics, artists, and stay-at-home-moms -- so many people with so many interests and shared experiences!

After being bitten by the Internet bug, I quickly changed careers from journalist to Web producer and spent the next 10 years working in online communities from Minnesota Public Radio to Bitstream Underground to Live365. I learned a lot about what people like and don't like about communicating online.

Not surprisingly, the spammers and scammers found their way in, and the Internet became a less friendly place.

Your Privacy and Security on TeeBeeDee

At TeeBeeDee we have spent a lot of time carefully developing a service: a Web site that values you and makes the commitment that your privacy and security will never, ever, be compromised.

Our commitments are:

1. We will never release your personally identifiable information to third parties for marketing purposes, ever!

2. We will never share your contact information with another member, without your express consent.

3. We will only ask for your personal information if we need it to provide a service you have requested.

4. We will always give you the option to edit the information that you provided to us in your profile, or to have your personal information removed from our records.

I am very excited about this information networking experience that we call TeeBeeDee, and appreciate your participation as we grow this thing. It's going to be a ton of fun -- and I look forward to the day when we can all say, "We were here when?."

Again, If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to let me know!

Hi Betty,

I'm looking for a place where I can submit suggestions on content and design. Where is it? :)

So I posted a discussion in the "Other Topics" section. None of the sub-topics within that section seemed to fit, so I picked, from the list of choices for sub-topic, "new_topic" (pretty darned sexy, I thought!). What I really needed was a new topic! I thought either Home or Community would have been appropriate. So how do these sub-topics get created in "Other Topics"? Can I suggest one or two? (I guess I just did) Can my little discussion get reclassified or is it destined forever to be filed under new_topic?

Thanks!

Hi Brian - this is a great question...

You CAN in fact add a new topic to "Other topics" but - as you astutely (yet again) pointed out, it's not from within the "other topics" area.

If you create a new message, you are given the option, in the "PIck a Topic" menu, to select a "New" topic.

Then, an open field is displayed called "Your topic". You can also add a subject here.

Once you've "Submitted" the discussion, you will see your new topic under "other topics"

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi Betty and all,

I just want to introduce myself. I'm Mac and I'm somewhat new to this. I will populate my site after lurking a bit.

This seems to be a great idea for folks that have a different prospective than You Tube and I welcome the chance to meet people who are a decade or two closer to my age.
