TBD Notes The single thing you must know

A bouquet by Lauren Rice is certainly a forget-me-not. The artist deconstructs the traditional floral arrangement until it becomes something altogether menacing: an over-sized jumble of crafting materials that overwhelms Transformer's small space. Rice flips the femininity of floral arrangements, so they're not neat and pretty, but rather an uncontrolled tumorous growth (when this reporter visited the gallery, one of the sculptures ensnared a visitor's hood). The artist compares them to dismembered bodies. Depending on your relationship status, it's either the best or worst thing to do before Valentine's Day, ever. (Maura Judkis)
