George is a linguist, obsessed with preserving dying languages, but unable to communicate in his own life, as his marriage falls apart. His assistant is mute with adoration, while an elderly couple, who are the last speakers of an obscure language refuse to speak to each other. Winner of the 2010 Susan Blackburn Prize.
