commands us to write? What urge, force, need, inspiration moves us to the page...to take up these clumsy, near hopeless tools - words - to try and tell a story, paint a scene, bring characters to life?
You may have wondered at my choices of images to brand this group's main page. They are always considered. Never random. And they are completely personal, subjective but I hope - always - inspirational in some way.
They are images that are somehow connect to the flood that is coursing through me in the moment, a FEELING that I need to set to words. It is a drug, this need. I have said before that had I any gift for visual art - if I could chisel beauty from stone, wrestle passion onto canvas with paint - I'd be better off, because I receive inspiration in that way... the way a visual artist must. In visual images, in colors and contrasts - shadows and light. Filth and beauty, angels and devils, pitch black nothingness and blinding high summer sunlight.
Interested in your thoughts on this. Interested to learn what makes you, my fellow writers...what MAKES you write.
