Thank you, lostmutt, for taking the time to do these quotes. They're always inspirational.

Thanks, Lostmutt, for the Thoreau quotes. Otter asked me for a follow-up about my story about my workplace experience in the lab, and it stimulated some thoughts re: personal responsibility. I was 21 years old at the time, and the most important follow-up I can give is that it was a horribly disillusioning experience for me, and one about which I felt powerless. At that time of my life, the world felt very big, and I felt very small. The best I was able to do at the time was to commit myself not to collude in any way with the production and reporting of erroneous data, and I did certainly stick to that.
As I more substantially have become myself over the decades, I find that it is more my way to light candles than to curse the darkness.

Thanks for the follow up.

Sorry, Otter, should have posted my elevator reply to TG here. But didn't think there still was a here (TITWG)
For those of you unfamiliar with our family's awful elevator incident, it happened on the inaugural day of "Today In The Writers Group," December 1, 2007. Here's a link to the discussion. I don't know how to do hyperlinks, unfortunately.
