do u like poetry...its a simple question...

Not as much as I suppose I should. A lot of it is too complex for my small mind. I do however like poets.

As this is The Writing Group and Poetry is writing, it is a given that we like poetry. If you are new to the group, I suggest you check out the discussion
Four Lines/Four Poems/For Today.
As for our resident Poet Laureate, you will have to refer to lostmutt, but I have to say that Otter and Westerly and Carol and akabukowski and even myself dabble a bit in the fine art. (Sorry if I left anyone out...I am doing this by memory and do not mean to offend!)
So, I answered your question. Now one of my own: Do YOU like poetry?
Jump in and share if you have the inkling..it's what we do here.

Hear, Hear! (I think that's it, isn't it, T/G, not "here, here"?)
Yes, I am right it's from the English court, advising everyone to hear what comes next.
Poetry it is! We write some of that. Check out all the threads and you'll find. "4 lines/4poems/4today."
If you have a particular poet you want to discuss, or want to share one of your own, start a thread. There's an audience for that here.

Words on lines
That may or may not
Rhyme
Yes
I take offense
Without pretense
At the loss of two
A why and an oh
That make you into me
Do I need
to spell it out?
I like poetry so much that on my first date with John (current husband), I made him read some of what I thought was my best pieces. I thought it would impress him, but he, not being a writer at all, thought I was a flower child. He was waiting for me to bring out beads and sandals next I think. He got used to me though. Yes. I love poetry. I think it's silent music from the heart. It flows and captures and stings at times. Like a great piece of music, it is supposed to move you.
Amykins, this is a sweet story. I'm glad you're still together. My current husband is a much better poet than I am. I like his stuff, and I liked it when he was writing it to me, when we were young.
Even today young guys will write poetry to their ladies. It follows a traditional path of beats and rhyming at regular intervals, like the music we hear. It may not be great poetry, what these lovers write. The rhymes may be obvious, and the rhymes,a little sing-song and the beats a little off, but if a guy sits down and applies himself, in some way this imperfect message may touch a lady's heart.
