Ain't sad at all. Death don't need no permission, but Grandmother needed to give herself leave to go on and be comforted that everythin' would be all right for with her loved ones.

Good for you! I think it's so difficult to provide an entire backstory into so few words. I think in flash fiction you've got to pack the hell into each word and weight it down with meaning. "Brown-speckled" described the grandmother perfectly. It suggested age and worn. I like it.

Ok ... a minor point? flat line ensued screams critical care. I'm for idiosyncratic ... hell, I'm for obscure ... but I think that's nearly jargon. And I think "her body sank slightly into the mattress." is your perfect ending. I think jumping from the past tense "closed her eyes" and into the present tense "sinking" is jarring. Your focus switched from subjective to objective, and takes the mind away from the power of your moment.

This is good. I liked it.
