Ladies and gentlemen,
Announcing a new kind of writing contest!
Whether you're a professional or hobbyist, teacher or student, published or unpublished, writing enthusiast - the playing field is now level!
Hi! My name is Bmichael...
And friends, if you're like me, you're probably sick and tired of all of those 'other' writing exercises. You know what I mean - the ones that give you a prompt or a concept to write about? And you also know what happens next...you begin to write - suddenly, the birth of the best idea you've ever conceived begins to take shape. Heart pounding, you stay up all night - call off from work the next day - fingers furiously pumping, blood spatter on the keyboard, your family and pastor begging you to stop for some nourishment, and finally, minutes before your complete mental and physical breakdown.. it's finished!
And as you're preparing to post this masterpiece, you take a quick look at what other folks have already submitted, and learn that this year's Pulitzer Prize winner just discovered this site and contributed something that she hammered out in a few minutes backstage at the awards ceremony - and there are no less than 30 (so far) wildly positive comments.
Well, no more, I say!
It is no longer about knowledge! Or experience! Or talent!
What matters now, dear friends, is how deep you can reach into the depths of your muse and retrieve... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING OF ANY LITERARY VALUE!
Here's How It Works:
1.To participate, you must write a story or essay - minimum 250 words.
2.There must be no theme, topic, or discernible plot.
3.Overuse of connectivity and flow is discouraged and should be used sparingly.
4.Any hint of humor is cause for immediate disqualification.
5.Previously submitted works to this site are not eligible.
Please remember:
A.The best submissions should cause the reader to lose consciousness before finishing.
B.Those submissions that cause extreme annoyance to the reader are eligible for bonus points.
C.Effective use of verisimilitude may be cause for point reduction.
D.Submissions with profile photos that are clever, sexy, or feature dogs (hint), have the best chances of success, statistically.
The winner will be determined by a straw vote of all members of the TeeBeeDee Writing Group. Simply click on 'inspiration' to vote for your favorite entry. Remember - vote early and vote often!
Grand Prize - One (1) $5.00 gift card to a retail or foodservice outlet in the winner's local, geographical area - to be determined.
The deadline for entry and voting is 9:00 pm (ET), Sunday, October 28, 2007. To ensure fairness, the winner will be the entry that receives the most votes from the TeeBeeDee Writing Group community and appropriately fulfills the vague, inconsistent, and constantly changing requirements as determined by our distinguished panel of judges. All decisions, whether ethical, moral, fair, legal, subjective, objective or not, are final.
**Disclaimer: This post, along with its contents is not associated with or condoned (probably) in any way by the TeeBeeDee Writing group or its administrator, who will probably boot me from the group when she finds out about it. SShhhhh!
***Writing Group members who are listed as 'friends' on Bmichael's profile, should expect and will receive preferential consideration. Write for details.
