The drizzling rain whispers
without intonation
on evening city streets.
Chorousing with the traffic sounds
and daydreams in the night.
Lights refract within the gentle rain.
Different sights,different
Neon rainbows,
different apathetic faces
as I walk along.
(Main Street is Pain Street
in any given town. Anymore.
Anyhow. Anyway.
It`s,either way,abandonment
to other long-lost dreams.)
As always I think of you,
and remember when we walked
these same streets,hand-in-hand.
Everything looked different then
when viewed through lovers` eyes.
(It all seemed more surreal
adorned in melancholy smiles and shadow.)
The drizzling rain whispers
in monotone---
but even in a tone,lovely,
like when you used to moan beneath me.
Oh,I miss you,darling!
Guess Kelly`s Bar will be
my date tonight.
The music`s terrible,the chatter overwhelming,
but the smoke-filled room
is ample explanation
for a pair of misty eyes.
Perhaps I`ll even find someone
with whom to share the rain,
a little body warmth and tenderness,
even if only for tonight.
The drizzling rain seems to whisper
in lovely-lonely monotones---
sibilant,like our rapid breathing
after love.
City lights,electric rainbows change
with each passing step,
melting,flowing,
drifting into other moments
left too rapidly behind.
Lights refract within the gentle rain...
(note:I never finished this poem...but I shall.Someday,someway.)
