The Long Wait
Perched firmly upon the fo'csle,
Long, black hair flittering wide,
With eyepiece to the shore,
A tall rogue searches for sign.
Months ago, in a tavern
Someplace upon that island nigh
A young servant lass's bounty
Had caught the pirate's eye.
Since that time, he rarely slept,
Keeps pacing the decks at night,
Hoping for a chance to return
To this most wondrous, beautious sight.
And just as she were wont to appear,
His eyepiece fell upon a window
From deep inside his blackened heart
Came a moan or a roar such bellow!
A beautiful child of no more than twenty
Decided to disrobe for all to see.
And the pirate's eyes were riveted wide
And his lips curled in sheer, ravenous glee.
Pounding so hard within his chest,
His finicky nature was primed for sport
And all could see in profile stance
His nine-pounder poking out of its port!
With such outright abandon and little care,
The Captain cleared the railing quite worn
"Don't worry," said the bosun's mate,
"If'n sharks don't eat'im... he'll be back in the morn!"
