Does this count? I had a humorous bit published by Reader's Digest a couple or three years ago. They paid me $400!

Probably the last thing I wrote for attempted pub was in 1994.

Appeared in Pirate Writings in an issue populated by people like Paul Di Filippo and Jane Yolen. Names I already recognized. Made me feel like a writer. Don't know why I haven't written since then.

Also have a couple of techie articles and one in a defunct magazine called Satire.

Maybe the upcomming 15 minutes exercises will get me started again.

I've heard that Reader's Digest pays really well. Congratulations! I usually don't get more than $150 for my feature length articles! (none, alas, in Reader's Digest.)

Jane Yolen, huh? Impressive. Never heard of Pirate Writings. If you like writing, you should definitely keep at it -- regardless of whether or not you get published.

Hello Everyone!

I love, love, love to write funny silly children's "stuff" and have done so for years. My little grandson has now given me NEW inspiration and I write for him and he loves it. Nothing published YET, but hoping.....

AND I am with Dee - good to see new people and faces. We are quite the bunch, let me tell you, so if you hang around you may as well get used to having a bit of fun:)

fun is always good...and writing is definitely fun! Have you sent your silly children's stuff to any magazines or publishers? You might think about joining SCBWI if you're serious about getting published.
