Mr. Stephen King: compelling, prolific, revealing, daring, a leader within the pack of wolves who slaver after his way with horror. Lit snobs consider him a modestly talented, too-successful hack, even some fans tire of his evident formulas and self-referential gimmicks.
But damn, he's a master. Stumbled across a fine piece he'd written recently in the New York Times on the general health and well-being of the short story. Here's a link:
