I can't tell you how many times as a reader I've come across a misused homophone and had it stop me in my tracks while I tried to decipher the meaning.

Is that the same as a metawhore?

I've heard of speed-readers suffering brain injuries when they hit the brick wall of indeciphable homophone reversals. Tragic, just tragic.

The sometimes gobblygook sentences in daily new articles got me thinkng about this issue. As CarolT said, it stops us in our tracks like a brick wall. Now there I go with the matawhore stuff.

Just for the 'whoopee,' I ran a search on Yahoo for 'metawhore." The first page listed only "metaphor," but at the top it did ask, "did you mean metawhore?" My first thought was, "Of course I meant it, stupid, I typed it didn't I." But there you go. Computers/software are only as smart as we make them.

As for me becoming a metawhore, it isn't likely because I think metaphors and similes should be used sparingly because they have more impact when we do use them. Just my two cents.
