I have a blog which is a series of short stories, the latest about Adobe software support as told from personal experience. The question is how do you get a blog noticed. Im up to about 20 stories, but have a small audience. How do you get the audience to grow. Advice would be appreciated.

One of the ways to get your blog noticed is to submit your articles to relevant blog carnivals. Here is the link:

You will want to do this process on Monday or Tuesday of every week for an extended period of time. As long as you have new articles to submit.
You can also make a habit of submitting comments to other blogs of a similar nature with your link on your signature line.
I do this process for a few clients on a weekly basis so if you need any assistance, let me know.
Keith, this is a rather simple piece. But I hope you ALWAYS add your blog link to emails that you send throughout the day.
The two biggest factors here are time and effort. It's going to take some time-consuming marketing effort plus time for your marketing efforts to pay off.
One thing you can do to help get you "noticed" by search engines is to get as many outbound links -- links from other sites to yours -- as possible. Most importantly, from sites that have subject matter that is relevant to your blog topics. This is harder than it sounds, but one fairly easy way to do this is to submit articles on to free article sites such as Ezinearticle.com, Goarticles.com. (Those are two of the best in my opinion). For example,you write an article about an IT topic and can include a couple of links to your blog. Then another Web site publisher posts your article on their site (they get free content but must post your link as well), and voila! an outbound link to your blog. This has worked quite well for a non-blog site I run.
Like Bobbie points out, you'll also want to become involved in the blogging community in your niche: posting thoughtful, relevant responses on other blogs, linking your site to other blogs your read, etc. People will look at your responses and check out your blog.

Also submit to blog directories, though some may require that you have more traffic or longevity. Along those lines, take advantage of StatCounter which gives you traffic information about your blog. It's free at statcounter.com.
You may also want to add links on your posts to social bookmark sites like Digg or Technorati. You can google for help on how to add this buttons to your blog.
Again, it takes time before you start to see the rewards (couple of months at least?) so the sooner you start the better. Good luck!
