Walking, breathing, being - these are the core reasons I am thankful.
Having experienced near death moments when I had no idea as to how, or if, life would continue for me, I have a very deep sense of appreciation for simply being.
Telling the stories of those moments could not convey the sense of my absolute love for life unless you, the reader, had been through similar experiences and had dealt with the aftermath with the same "tools" I had in hand at those times. We are all so unique, and that is one reason why I love life so much. So, instead, I will describe my experience of being that makes me so thankful.
Each of us brings to the table a different perspective, and though I am of the mind that we all share common ground, I am also very sure that we have a wide array of very specific traits that set us apart from each other. Our vibrations, expressed through our voices and in so many other ways, keep me aware of our differences.
Listening to others is like hearing ocean waves crash on the shore in its various ways - like a stormy sea or subtle lapping, we express our beings whether we are aware that we are telling the world who we really are, or not.
The sound of our voices, the cadence of our speech, the words we choose ... all of these fulfill in me a desire to know that person speaking to me. Knowing that one day, I will meet death again, I choose to find in others the story of their life through their vibration in order to cherish them as much as I cherish my own story.
Living each moment, not as if it is my last, but as if it is an opportunity to feed my soul with every nuance of the world within which I am, is how I express my thanks for being.
It goes deeper than knowing I am a spiritual being. It is my sense of being an integral and unique part of this world that I rely on for spiritual sustenance. My very fiber is influenced by those who make life what it is - good, bad, or indifferent.
I do not dwell on what almost was, like death or the reasons for near-death moments, and am forever thankful that I can walk, breathe and be. Especially when I live in such a beautiful place and have loving family and friends to share this world with, regardless of where they are, geographically or spiritually.
Thanks, Larry, for bringing this conversation about.
