Hi, it's Gordon. I'll be the host of this group discussion. Maybe you could introduce yourself and give us a brief overview of what you hope to accomplish in this group.

If you want to check me out, click on my picture and you'll get a snapshot.

I'm thinking it might make sense for everyone to check out the material prior to us getting started. That way we can discuss how we want to approach the 7-stages (like one step a week, or whatever you think).

By the way, I'm not just a career coach. I'm also someone who changed his career in a big way a few years ago, so I'll be sharing some of my personal experiences as well.

Hello:

I'm not sure this is the best discussion to join for my situation, but I'm taking the plunge.

I have already written an initial intro to my problem, which is, being 61 and wanting to re-enter the workforce. GORDON, you are one of two people who sent me very pertinent replies.

How my problem relates to career CHANGE and this particular discussion is that I was always a librarian and now I want to work in my local school district as an aide. I have actually gone on a half dozen interviews in the last three weeks, but have little good news to report. The good news was that I got some interviews, at least. The bad news is that I didn't get any of the jobs.

I have found out that school administrators and teachers would rather have a teacher-in-waiting as an aide (to get the benefit of their education, practice teaching, and so on). It makes sense, I suppose. But I did not study education, nor did I get a degree in it, nor did I ever practice teach, nor will I ever get a teaching license.

Folks ask me why I don't just get a job in a public library, since that's where I worked for 35 years or so. Well, I want to change to something else!

Anyway, I'm stuck.
