i feel like I've failed before Ive even started. Not had 1st client

yeah i know stop getting negative,, trying to stop feeling deflated,,,

been tryin Ive not received any positive feedback for my new biz, although I am aware " no feedback is feedback in itself"

I think i need to revamp my first contact email, Im self employed, retail merchandising , retail support, pos display,

I was thinking of actually going into my local store and giving my time for free for a shift or a few hours, just so i can get reference, HOW LONG SHOULD I DO,

does any one think this is good idea or not,,,

I'm curious about your retail support business model. Isn't this kind of thing done by people working directly for vendors?

I've known people who have done these kinds of things for Hallmark cards, and for nurseries selling to Home Depot. In both cases, the pos person worked directly for, or contracted with, a vendor, instead of an individual store.

How are you positioning yourself?

If you are as vague in your presentation as you are in this post, you have a way to go before you will attract customers.

To whom did you turn when you were making the decision to go into this business? How much knowledge do you have of your market and how to break into it? What is your skill advertising your product/service?

Anyone can go into business but 95% don't make it successful especially when you are not apparently prepared for what it takes to get a start and are here on TBD instead of with experts in your particular venture.

What I know about business is the amount of preparation I put into each of the four I have started, succeeded with and sold off after I tired of them. The fourth one is still active. I didn't ask strangers unless they were an expert in what I was doing. Before you go into your local store, prepare a brochure that sells you and I mean one that I would buy into. Find several people who are doing it successfully and take them to lunch and pick their brains.

If you are already telling yourself to stop getting negative, it means that you know you are being negative. No oner ever started a business on a negative note.

There are several components to opening a business:

A deep understanding of the business climate in that business and the specific needs of the potential clients.

A knowledge of who is doing the same thing and what you can do better than they do. In other words, what benefit can you offer the customer?

An understanding of how to open the doors to your potential customers.

E-Mail? Nobody reads bleepin' e-mail ... unless it is a follow-up to personal contact. I mean there is a well-meaning prince in Africa who has been trying to GIVE me $10,000,000! I don't even read his e-mails!

You do not seem to have a plan. Without a plan, you don't have a business. The business sounds like you made an investment of no dollars and not enough time. Did someone on one of those half-baked "make your fortune" sites talk you into this? They make their fortune giving half-assed ideas to people who think they are getting something for next to nothing.

If you are for real, at least sit down and think through what you need to say to tell this group what you are doing. If your e-mails look like this post, you have misspellings, poor punctuation, bad grammar. Hell, when I see something like that, I wouldn't buy an ice cube from you if I was living next door to Hell! At least learn to capitalize your sentences, speak in complete sentences, use apostrophes. When you look like a beggar, you can't come in the millionaire's entrance! When you talk like an illiterate, you can't sell by e-mail.

I won't apologize for being harsh. You think I'm harsh? A person who has to pay for your service will make me look like a marshmallow!

and no i dont think your being harsh,,, its me feeling sorry for myself because of a recent failed relationship, I do think i needed that kick up the proverbial butt,,,

but your right in what you said,,, a few days ago i had another look at my business plan, and decided to redo from scratch ,,, well just add more to the original,,,,

anyway its gettin late an Im ready for my bee boo time,,, nite nite

Sorry about my spelling, its just quicker typing like that, I mean after all as long as its understood ,,, does it matter if I spell "just - or jus"

as in jus goin down 2 shops, you underastood it right,,,

Im not presenting a business presentaion or something like that, If I was, then It would be correct spelling, obviously, does it matter if I capitalise my " i" or not, as long as Im understood, surely we're not that much of snob, ok i'm not capilising or punctuating,

sorry its quicker, and as long as i'm understood, whats it matter if its a pesrsonal email or a business,,,, THEN YEAH I WOULD PUNTUATE, SPELLING AND GRAMMER, IF IT WAS BUSINESS, IM NOT THAT DAFT,

SORRY FOR CAPS, I HAVE JUST BROKE MY CAPS LOCK KEY ON THE KEYBOARD, SOMEHOW, KEYS STUCK,,,
