Ouch. $35.00 a year is pretty steep. I was thinking of something between bargain basement and luxury. The website I'm planning is more informational than commercial, so that's a pretty big investment. I'll be working on a hosted site, and I can live without a domain name until the traffic warrants upgrading. But I've bookmarked your suggestion. Many thanks.

Check out www.godaddy.com. I dont have the long-term experience with them but I know people that have, and they are quite a bit cheaper

I think GoDaddy is one that I've heard bad things about. Anyway, they seem to be the bargain basement type. Thinking about calling the higher-priced sellers "luxury," I take that back. If you're running a business you need the best, and paying for it certainly isn't a luxury.

I've had great luck w/ go-daddy. I've also use Network Solutions, but don't see the point of paying $35/year when go-daddy does it for $10.

Guy, how long have you been with godaddy? Long enough to be sure that you get your domain expiration notice in time to renew?

I've been with Godaddy.com since 2005. Yes, the company notifies you about domain expiration, sends you ICANN notifications, entertains you - radio show, not expensive and dependable.
