Feeling like I need to comment in here because it's still empty! I hate to admit it, but I didn't really like this book. I love how it's written (I love Austen's writing style) but I find the story sort of depressing. That family doesn't treat Fanny very well... and all the characters seem completely self-obsessed. The best film version I've seen is the Frances O'Connor version with the scene-stealing Embeth Davidz. And mainly because it plays like a romantic comedy with Fanny completely winking into the camera during the end scene as the fates of each character are revealed.
