If you're the E.D. you may want to try evaluations every 6 months and let employees know that they will be held accountable for certain aspects of the job. Under certain types of funding, overtime pay can not be given so that's why they may not want to work overtime. Under some of our grants employees can not put-in volunteer time also. Your grant admin would be able to fill you in on those details. Good luck!

Personally I would ask how important these positions are to your organization. Grant dollars are much too precious and hard to come by to waste on someone who is not devoted to the agency's mission. No one is fond of working more than 8 hours a day, paid or not, but we all know sometimes it's a necessity.

Yearly increases? You did say NONPROFIT, didn't you? Funders get all giddy when they see their dollars making a difference through delivery of services. Salaries? Not so much. Good luck with that one!
