We don't have Costco here, but I know what you mean about overbuying. I am slowly, because of the cost, switching to rechargeable AAs and AAAs. I feel good about that, but have also been told some of the rechargeable ones aren't as good for certain electronics. It escapes me which ones.

Sometimes I feel like the companies are saying they are green, when they aren't and when there are a number of ways to calculate. Glad you asked. I hope someone can help us out.

Buying in bulk does save on packaging, but if you are not going to use all of the product before it expires then there is waste. If you are not going to use all of the product that you have purchased then you could donate it to someone or some group who could use it. If you decide to go with buying smaller quantities you could reserch the product or packaging on if it can be recycled. I do not have photo capability on this computer. Sorry.

If I believe everything I see on TV, then shopping at Walmart is now earth friendly. They don't mention that landfills are full of the crap they've been selling up until now.
