I am curious to know what efforts you make to be Green (environmentally friendly) and what are your efforts you are especially proud of?

One thing I try to do every day is bring my travel mug to the coffeeshop and have them fill it instead of a paper cup. They give me 10cents off, and we both save a cup from hitting the landfill.
Another idea - I want to do more of this - is make my own lunches rather than eat out during the work week. Take out containers are bad. Or I could bring a tupperware or something instead of letting them use disposable packaging.
I do try to use "real" metal cutlery rather than the plastic disposable ones. Washing takes some energy, I know, but can't be worse than the landfill...

Composting--I love it! (don't know why...)
Taking canvas bags to the grocery store--I had so many of them from conferences that I didn't know what to do with them, until I realized this was a perfect use!

Composting is a great one, Kerrie. Do you have a compost pile at your house? Do you use it on your garden? I have a pile, but never use it in the garden. Mostly b/c it's not broken down enough yet. I may be doing something wrong though, like adding avocado peel and pits or egg shells. Any ideas?

I am impressed with your travel mug and tupperwear to get coffee and for ordering out! Great ideas.!

I have started doing this as well. I even purchased brightly colored ones to catch my attention as I go out the door, so I remember to take them.
I like your comment about the extra bags from conferences. I also can relate to that.

I do the same but nothing noble about it in my case. Just hate drinking out of those disposable cups & I almost always have my "Mug Pacifier" filled with decaf/leaded mixed 50/50 since I quit smoking 8 years ago.

occasionally have a 'compost pile' at my place. unfortunately it has little to do with recycling and a lot to do with failing to clean the fridge.
but i do use a groovy woven carryall for all my marketing. found it at one of the greenest grocery meccas in san francisco, rainbow grocery.
