I have talked many times about my sister, who has MS and Parkinsons. As I've said, she lost her job right before she became ill.
She was the director of a local hospice. She loved her job.She had been a nurse for many years and continued her education. She was a hospice nurse for alot of years.
Well, the nurses who worked for her have been like family to her.As her illness has progressed, they've taken her to doctor appts, appts with her lawyer,to the grocery store.Even recently, sending over a massage therapist.
The one nurse that worked for her also remodels homes with her husband. They found a house and decided that they would buy it and remodel it,with my sister in mind. They talked to her and are selling it to her at a very low price, they really won't make a profit,as they were doing all the labor and the supplies. This past week, they have let other nurses know from hospice and so there have been work days filled with former employees working on the house.
It is all being done handicap accessable. My sister went over Saturday and couldn't believe it.I am so grateful to these wonderful people.
She is so excited and since this has been going on,she sounds so much better.I thank God for these angels.I am grateful that my sister, who gave so much of her life to help others,is now getting the home that she needs and so deserves.
She has always been a fan of the Wizard of Oz. There is a room that will be her Oz room.A friend has painted a rainbow and is even painting the Emerald City.Another friend, professional artist will paint all four characters. My sister has alot of collectables in boxes that will now have a home.
I've asked her to let my daughters and grandaughters help put the room together. She is excited about this and so am I.
What a labor of love. And for my sister, there really will be no place like home.
